handshake between mailerlite and wix

Wix is one of the most popular free website builders, and for good reason too! It’s extremely easy to work with.

Similar to Wix, MailerLite is also designed to be very user-friendly which is why the two platforms pair up quite nicely. If you are interested in taking your marketing game to the next level, MailerLite is an excellent email marketing platform to get started with.

This post discusses how to connect Wix with MailerLite. The sooner you can pair up the tools the sooner you can start collecting subscribers from your Wix site and reaching out to them with MailerLite.

Benefits of using MailerLite with Wix

Wix is an excellent website builder. It is well known for its user-friendly interface that allows you to build professional-looking websites from scratch in just a matter of minutes.

However, although Wix is a great website builder, it definitely isn’t as well known for its email marketing capabilities. The email marketing feature is nice to have, however, Wix users often look for other email marketing solutions that are a bit more powerful and less limited.

The benefits of MailerLite is that it is a robust, yet affordable email marketing tool with all the flexibility you need for complex email marketing sequences. The best part is, just like Wix, you can use MailerLite 100% for free!

MailerLite’s free version allows you to send up to up to 12,000 emails a month to up to 1,000 subscribers. For most small business owners, 1,000 email subscribers is more than they have to market to in the first place. Additionally, with the free version you get many essential email marketing features such as

  • Automation
  • Segmentation
  • Landing page/popup/form builder
  • Tracking and analytics

Ultimately, the free version has all the core features for effective email marketing, however, for more advanced features, you can upgrade to paid plans starting at $10 a month.

Connecting MailerLite to Wix

Setting up MailerLite with your Wix website domain and email

First, before signing up with MailerLite, you need to make sure you have a custom website domain name AND matching custom email address.

That being said, you can not use a free Wix domain name that you get when you first create a free account with Wix. You can tell if you have a free Wix domain if there is a “wix” extension in the URL. The format of a free Wix website’s URL is username.wixsite.com/siteaddress.

MailerLite requires you to have a custom domain name and not a free domain name provided by Wix. For instance, a custom domain name could be mytraveljourney.com.

To get a custom domain like this you can’t register a domain through Wix but you will have to purchase one either through Wix or through a domain registrar such as godaddy.com. Once you have purchased your domain name you can connect it to Wix. Refer to the video for instructions to learn more about this.

Once you have connected your custom domain to Wix you can then create a custom email address through Wix as well. If your custom domain is mytraveljourney123.com, your custom email address could be info@mytraveljourney123.com.

As soon as you have connected your custom domain and matching email set up with Wix, you can then sign up with MailerLite. To do so, simply go to MailerLite’s official website and sign up. First, you must complete the approval process by filling in various information about your company, how it has collected emails, and how it intends to communicate with its subscriber. In the next section, you can request for approval by verifying your website. Simply enter your Wix website’s domain, click next, and then put in your website’s email. You will be sent a verification email to confirm that you do in fact own your website.

Once your account gets approved with MailerLite, you will be able to send emails with your website’s email address through MailerLite.

Putting MailerLite forms on your Wix website

If you are interested in growing your email subscriber base, you can use MailerLites forms, pop ups and landing pages on your Wix site to do so.

Let’s say you want to create an embedded form for your Wix site. Simply go to MailerLite, and under forms click “create embedded form”. Once you get to the form editor you may customize your form any way you’d like. As for the design, you can choose between a default form design, a horizontal form, and a card form that contains an image. Select a background color, font, font size, and make numerous other changes to completely customize your form. Type out the text that you want on your form. For instance, “sign up to get a copy of our free ebook”. Once you have clicked save, you can click “get embed code” to copy the code for your Wix site.

From here, go to your Wix editor. Click the plus icon, click “more”, and then click “HTML code”. At this point, you will be given a box that you can click and drag to wherever you want on your website. Once you have found a good spot for it, you can click “Enter Code” and then paste the code you had copied before.

Now, whenever a visitor subscribes to your email list through your Wix site, that subscriber’s information will be automatically added to your MailerLite account. Now you may communicate with your subscriber through your MailerLite account however you wish.

Final words

Although setting up MailerLite with Wix might seem daunting at first, the process is pretty straightforward. In a matter of minutes, you can start communicating with email subscribers from your Wix site through MailerLite.

However, to simplify things even more, keep in mind that you can also create a website with MailerLite instead of Wix. This way you don’t need to worry about juggling two tools: you can host your website and do email marketing all through one platform.
